Adult Third Culture Kids

Third Culture Kids (TCKs) are individuals who spend a significant part of their developmental years outside their parents' culture, typically due to their parents' careers. These children often lead a transient lifestyle, moving between multiple countries or being surrounded by highly mobile communities.  A defining aspect of TCKs is their return to their "passport country" during adulthood, where they are expected to integrate into a culture that may feel unfamiliar despite their nationality.

Many TCKs, like myself, continue to navigate the complexities of their unique upbringing into adulthood, identifying as Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCKs). Having lived this experience, I am deeply connected to the challenges and strengths that come with this identity. My personal journey, combined with my professional interest, led me to dedicate my primary research dissertation to exploring the transitions of adult TCKs, particularly focusing on the process of repatriation and adjusting to life in what is often perceived as the 'home' country.

The TCK experience is diverse and multifaceted, involving layers of cultural identity, belonging, and adaptation. However, common themes among TCKs often include:

As someone who has walked this path, I am passionate about offering support to other ATCKs. I provide a space where you can explore your unique cultural identity, address feelings of displacement, and navigate the complexities of belonging and repatriation. My approach is empathetic and informed by both lived experience and research, focusing on building resilience, self-acceptance, and a strong sense of personal identity.

I hope to support your journey with the understanding that your experiences are valid and your identity is valuable.

I also offer a free twenty-minute intro session which you can book below to see if we would be a good fit.
